percent of the US population is located within a day's days drive of
Middle Tennessee. Six legs of three major interstates cross the region,
and 17 airlines service the Nashville International Airport, making 380
arrivals and departures per day. Additionally, the Cumberland River and
rail facilities assist in industrial transport. The climate is moderate,
with an average daily high of 69.8 degrees. Nashville has emerged as a nationally recognized economic center. Its
diverse economic base, dominated by tourism, printing and publishing,
music production, higher education, automobile technology and healthcare
management, tends to make the area more resistant to recession than most
metropolitan areas. Unemployment and cost of living are consistently
lower than the average for other cities and regions around the country.
There is no state income tax. With a wide spectrum of both public and private K-12 education
opportunities, the Nashville area provides families with many choices.
